Ottawa Chinese Arts Troupe (OCAT) was established in November of 1998. Our programs include Chinese folk dance, choir and band. Our objective is to promote Chinese folk arts to the Canadian multicultural society.

OCAT is now the largest arts organization in the Ottawa Chinese community. OCAT has been invited to perform for many significant events both inside and outside the Ottawa region, like Canada Day Celebration, Carnival of Cultures, Tulip Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, SuperEX, International Fireworks Festival, Chinese New Year Celebration in Parliament Hill, Brockville Multicultural Festival, Montreal Dragon Boat Festival and subject performance in National Arts Centre, etc.

The history of Chinese arts goes back to 4000 years. China is also a country of many different nationalities. Each has its own history, language and tradition, and maintains its own distinct customs. This leads to great diversity in terms of style and costumes when performing dance and music.

We will bring all these to you to enrich the multicultural aspects of our Canadian society. Our performance can be characterized as of grace, color and virtuosity, and we are proud of our efforts in striving for art excellence.
